Arnold : I ordered this light bicycles wheels from you late last year and received it beginning of the year for my new built. 24 Specialized Aethos with a target of reaching 13 lbs. With your help the new wheels I was under the weight. Riding the new wheels the bike rides excellent, light, stiff, and very responsive. I really appreciate the details of the pictures you sent after the wheels were built. Customer service was great in letting me know what stages my wheels were at during the process. Also asking me if I had any concerns before shipping. Buying wheels from Light Bicycle is the BEST experience ever. I’m looking forward on my next build with the new Turbo 50. Thank you, Arnold

Peter : I purchased AR 25 wheels with LB carbon spokes and LB hubs after doing a fair amount of research online, including on Reddit and Hambini. Other Chinese manufacturers, such as Lun, were much heavier at the same price point. I have had mixed luck with US/European manufacturers. The Zipp wheels I had were so flexy that they rubbed the rim brakes on my recumbent. I replaced those with Hunt wheels with carbon spokes and was very happy as they were stiff, light (1200gms), and held up nicely. But finding myself in Thailand with a road bike, Hunt was less of an option due to import duties. I chose LB AR25 wheels because of their incredible weight (950gms for my set before rim tape), their internal width (24mm), and the stiff carbon spokes. I ride mostly in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where some roads can be rough and all hills are steep. It is not uncommon to encounter 20% gradients, and every gram makes a difference when trying to keep up with stronger buddies. Aerodynamics are not a concern for me as I'm strong on flats, but the 28mm external width was a plus as I ride with 28mm tires and there is not much of a step off between the tire and the rim surface. The 24mm internal width and shallow profile means that the tire rides like a 30mm tire. It is very cushy at 50 PSI (tubeless) and rides amazingly well. The wheels are very stiff despite their shallow depth. So far, I'm very, very pleased with them. A big plus for LB is the customer service. Edwin went and personally checked on my order when there was a delay. He wrote back very quickly and just overall provided outstanding customer service. Customer service is important when you need it, and I needed it because UPS shipped my wheels (literally) around the world before they reached me. They first went to Hong Kong, then to the west coast of the US, Kentucky, and then to Germany before making their way to Thailand. In the process, the box was badly crushed and the rim was scratched. Edwin responded within minutes and we ran through a troubleshoot to make sure that they were safe to ride. If there were anything that I would change, I would recommend that LB work on the boxing. It was just wheels, a box, and a few pieces of very thin foam taped on the side of the hub. Shipping was about 6 weeks to Thailand, but Edwin was attentive. The wheels are so crazy light that I was worried that they might be fragile, but they have done well. I have only put 450km on the wheels so far, but they are fast, light, and very comfortable. Everything I hoped for. If I had to do it again, I would buy these wheels again without hesitation. They are replacing Ultegra C36 wheels, which are less stiff and heavier. Aesthetically, I really like the fact that they are plain carbon with no decals. They look great on the bike!

Nick : For my lightweight Crux build I wanted the lightest wheels that were still capable of being ridden hard in harsh conditions. The AR25 ticked those boxes on the Rims side and I paired them with the trusty DT Swiss 180 EXP Hubs. The wheelset (with Sapim CX Ray and Sprint Spokes) came in at just 1074g. I raced the 2024 Edition of the Traka 360 on this Wheelset and they handled the rough course flawlessly.

James : This is GREAT news. Compared to the Elves Orome Valar wheelset, the LB wheelset is 1mm wider, 6mm deeper & weighs about 100g less! This project will be a Black Friday build so I will save this conversation for future reference. I love Light Bicycle. I am a customer for life.

Hello LB Support, I'm planning to buy an AR25 Disc wheelset. What is the maximum tire pressure for a 40x622 tubeless tire? Rider weight: 75kg Specialized Roubaix 2024 No aggressive riding Best Markus

LightBicycle 2024/11/11

Hi Markus, The max tire pressure is 40psi. Which hub would you like for AR25 road disc wheelset 700C? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, I'm not sure which hub option to pick? Many thanks in advance for your help. This is my current bike and specs: https://vitusbikes.com/collections/road-cyclocross-energie-evo/products/vitus-energie-evo-force-cyclocross-bike-07e7

LightBicycle 2024/10/07

Hi Leo, Thanks for your inquiry! I just checked your bike, it is front 12*100mm/rear 12*142mm, with 33mm tire. May I know your weight please? Do you ride aggressively? What is your riding style? Then we can check whether AR25 700C wheelset is okay for you or not. And I can also recommend hubs accordingly. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Max 2023/11/01

Hi! The specs on these AR25 look very appealing - however, what are the limitations of the hybrid hook system compared to a traditional hooked rim? Do hookless compatible tyres have to be used? What is the maximum inflated pressure when using a 28mm tyre with a tubeless setup? Thanks, Max

LightBicycle 2023/11/02

Hi Max, Thanks for reaching out! The recommended max tire pressure for the hybrid hook is 70psi. The hybrid hook is better at keeping the tires on the rim. You can use a tubeless tire on the rim. 28c tires are well within the tire recommended usage range. The AR25 road disc has become the most popular rim since its release. They are used by varies riders. How much tire pressure will you ride? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Even though this is the lightest wheelset I've owned, I can attest to their toughness for gravel use. I purchased Falcon Pro rims built with DT Swiss 240 hubs, Sapim CX Rays spokes, traditional spoke pattern, with drain holes and they weighed in at 1030g. Very close to claim weight of 1022g. Over the last three months I've ridden these wheels on Colorado gravel roads, with washboard and loose rock, and even on some singletrack worthy of a mountain bike. I also raced these wheels in August at Gravel Worlds Long Voyage - 300 in Lincoln, NE for 23 straight hours with no mechanical issues. Although, I don't run high pressure in my gravel bike tires, I was attracted to these rims because of the hybrid hook. This relieves any stress about my tire unseating from the rim on a rough course. The wait time to receive wheels from Light Bicycle is longer than usual but, I appreciate the quality and will definitely buy from them again. Thanks

I was wondering if you could do the AR25 wheels with the carbon ti hub disk brake with the Berd spokes and would the wheel be heavier or lighter with no spoke holes?

LightBicycle 2023/08/14

Hi Harrison, Thanks for reaching out! Sorry, the Berd spokes can not be built with Straight pull Carbon Ti disc hubs and can not be set up with No Access Holes. We could offer other hubs as an option, I have sent you an email, please check it. Light Bicycle

Stephen 2023/04/24

Hello. These wheels look promising. I am looking for a carbon rim gravel wheelset build that will be more compliant on rough and chunky gravel descents. Is the carbon weave on this wheelset more for stiffness or compliance? Also, which spokes would you recommend for DT Swiss 240s and such gravel riding: long climbs and descents, and preferably durable? Thank you.

LightBicycle 2023/04/24

Hi Stephen, Thanks for reaching out! The road disc AR25 is more compliant for gravel riding if build with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. May I know your weight and tire pressure you run with? Tire size would be also helpful. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Marci 2022/12/01

Hi, I like your AR 25 wheelset and the weight is pretty impressive. I have a few questions about the rim: How durable is it despite its weight? I ride 30-70% paved-unpaved roads, and sometimes the unpaved road is rocky, single-track-like. Should I worry about the rim being damaged from a bump or a stone throw? Is the wheelset hand built? Is there a break-in process for the spokes? Do you check the spoke tension carefully? Thanks, Marci

LightBicycle 2022/12/01

Hi Marci, Thanks for reaching out! 1. AR25 700C disc was designed for gravel riding. So it would be a perfect fit for you. We are manage to reduce the weight by cutting unnecessary weight, upgrade materials and well-designed layup. The fact is that we have a XC version with the same design, but different layup to fit the XC trails' condition. We can make the rear rim stronger if you are worry. But it should add some weight because of the extra materials. 2. All of our rims are 100% handmade and wheels are 100% hand build. 3. The AR25 rims are one of our pro rims, so it come with a default 5-year warranty. As for the spokes, most of our road wheels are built with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. They are really reliable. It might break during crash accident. 3. We are actually very strict with our spoke tension. And we will pack with a wheel building specs in the box for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Aaron 2022/09/25

Hello, Do you have any future plans of possibly creating a road version of this wheelset, maybe with a hooked rim and 21-23mm internal? I can see this design as being very good on days with a lot of climbing even if the wheelset weight went up to 1100g.

LightBicycle 2022/09/26

Hi Aaron, We do have 21-23mm internal road rims 700C with hooked design available. The AR35, AR45, AR375, AR465, WR38, WR50, WR65. Currently, we don't have any plan to make a 25mm deep road rim. The hybrid hook design of AR25 was meant for gravel use tire pressure. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, I am interested in the Falcon Pro Wheeleset AR25 Disc with Novatec Hubs. I would need the front to be a 12mm Thru-Axle and the rear to be 135mm Standard QR, would this be possible? What would be the price? Thank you.

LightBicycle 2022/09/19

Hi Ronald, Yes, we can build the wheels 700C AR25 disc with 135*QR rear hub. Can you confirm the full specs and delivery information so I can prepare and send you the order via email? Thanks, Lightbicycle
