20in Rim
In celebration of our ten year anniversary, Light Bicycle is proud to present our first carbon gravel frameset, the Journey. Designed for the rider who appreciates the distinct ride quality of carbon, the LB Journey features adventure-ready geometry that’ll have you searching for what’s hidden beyond that last bend for years to come. Adventure-Ready Geometry
The Journey was engineered to provide comfort and confidence on a wide variety of terrain. Vertical profiles on the top and down tube are narrow so the bike feels compliant on rougher tracks while lateral widths are deeper to optimize energy transfer while pedaling. A tapered head tube and 12mm axle standard add stiffness so the Journey is quick to change course when it counts.
A waved stay profile assists in absorbing and dispersing vibration while the relaxed geometry (HTA 70°-70.8°) will keep you in the saddle when the going gets tough.
Huge Clearance = Highly Versatile.
The Journey features generous tire clearance so you’ll always have enough rubber for the route. The chainstays can comfortably accommodate tires as wide as 700 × 50c on all but the Extra Small “XS” size. For the XS frame, the max tire size is 700 × 35c. The frame can accept 650b wheels and fit tires wide as 2.0” (50c).
With fenders, the tire clearance is typically 40mm for 700c / 650b tires.
Multiple Mounting Points: Over-Packers Rejoice
Whether you’re picking up produce at the grocery store, commuting back from the office or touring off-road across the country, the Journey has the hardware to get both you and your gear to the destination.
The front triangle features nine mounting points with additional space for a top tube bag, while the fork has multi-purpose mounts on both legs. Toss in standard seat stay rack mounts (saddlebags welcome), and you’ll be able to pack as much as you want for your next adventure.
Internal Routing: Clean & Quiet
Journey frames feature internal cable routing and are compatible with most common shifting systems (mechanical & electronic). The carbon fork sports a special D-shape steerer tube to leave room for cables inside the tube.

FAQ’s
1. What is the maximum chainring compatibility?
The Journey is compatible with both 1X (42T max) and 2X (36/48T max) round chainrings. Oval rings will need to be smaller than their round counterparts by approximately 2-6T respectively. Please consult with the chainring manufacturer to identify what the round equivalent would be in respect to clearance.
2. What groupset should be used, mechanical or electronic?
This frame is compatible with either mechanical or electronic shifting (Shimano Di2, Sram Etap, Campagnolo EPS). We recommend using FULL internal routing with the use of a wired electronic groupset.
3. What’s the BB standard?
Keeping convenience in mind, we designed the frame to utilize a 68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket.
4. What are the suggested rotor sizes?
The Journey frameset allows for 140mm or 160mm rotors both front and rear. You’ll need flat mount brake adapters when using 160mm rotors. We suggest using hydraulic disc brakes for optimal braking performance.
