I loved the customization they offered, I could choose everything and make the perfect wheelset for ME.
I was so satisfied with the AR565 RACE wheelset that I wanted a new wheelset for my gravel bike and Light Bicycle was the obvious choice, no question. I loved the customization they offered, I could choose everything and make the perfect wheelset for ME. True custom, unlike most other companies! Customer service has been top-notch, and excellent communication. I needed a typical gravel wheelset to accommodate wide tires so the superb rims of the FALCON WR45 of 32mm external and 25 internal were EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted a light wheelset too, so no need to go for a rim deeper than 45, but visually a deep rim looks awesome, so that is why I didn’t choose 38 or less. There are also a few aero gains with a deeper gravel rim of 45 compared to shallower rims of 30-38 which are more common. Thanks to the Flyweight rims and Bitex hubs, the wheelset was just 1300g which is fantastic for a semi-aero gravel wheelset.
I was so thrilled when I unpacked them and saw the quality of the build once again.
I received the wheels in a few weeks. The package was excellent and sturdy, and the wheels are perfectly protected. I paid no extra taxes to France.
I was so thrilled when I unpacked them and saw the quality of the build ONCE AGAIN. The tension of the spokes was excellent, and the rims were flawless, splendid, and better than expected! The unique oil slick Bitex hubs were STUNNING especially paired with the Bitex oil slick spokes. It is a unique and truly remarkable combination that you don’t see anywhere else. All I could say was: WOW. I measured and weighed the wheels: everything was as advertised. I put on Challenge Strada Bianca Pro 700/36 tires and thanks to the wide internal width of 25mm they measured up to 38mm. I was very pleased with that!
The riding part was as good as expected.
The riding part was as good as expected: comfort was supreme, the Bitex hubs are smooth and I love its faint, discreet sound. It feels like super quality. The wheels felt extremely reliable too: the oil slick spokes are as light as the Sapim CX Rays and the tension was perfect so I had total confidence.
I primarily wanted these wheels for long adventure/endurance rides but I couldn’t resist testing them under fast conditions and they delivered the goods. I rode fast with them in my Fast Pack group ride and they did the job - nervous and responsive if necessary. They were faster than expected thanks to the semi-aero rims, even with tires of 38mm width. Everyone complimented me on them. With the oil slick hubs and spokes, people were amazed - they had never seen that before. You won’t go unnoticed, I guarantee. Indeed they look stunning on my black and pink Kona Super Jake carbon gravel bike. The UD glossy/satin finish is beautiful. Many riding buddies asked me what brand they were and where I got them.
On some longer rides/endurance with a bit of climbing and descent, they were also excellent. I climbed easily with them; they didn’t feel like heavy gravel wheels. I want to ride with them for hours and miles and miles… To put it in a nutshell, I absolutely love these wheels, I have nothing bad to say about them. 10/10 A+ as far as I’m concerned, total no-brainer. A returning customer; very satisfied once again with Light Bicycle!
